Dwight E. Lawler (Hartville)'s Obituary
Dwight Eldridge Lawler, son of George V. and Nettie V. Wynn Lawler, was born August 23, 1922 in St. George, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, December 23, 2011 in Hartville Care Center, at the age of eighty-nine years and four months.
On July 2, 1948, Dwight was united in marriage to Bobbie Jane Stowe, and to this union one son was born.
Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, on July 22, 2001; his parents; two brothers, Lowell and Donald Lawler; and two sisters, Vernice Bolian and Norma Bohannon.
He is survived by his son, David, of Billings, Missouri; a granddaughter, Mishelle Lawler of Humansville, Missouri; two sisters, Velma Crisp of Springfield, Missouri and Sylvia Lawler of Hartville, Missouri; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dwight was born in St. George and spent most of his life in Wright County. He briefly worked in Kansas City as a riveter, at the North American Aviation Plant during World War II. After the War, Dwight returned to Hartville, married Bobbie, and later owned and operated Lawler’s Grocery for nearly twenty years.
Dwight sold his store in the 70’s and continued to work on the Custodial staff at the Wright County Courthouse until December of 1987, retiring after twenty years of service.
Dwight had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the Hartville Freewill Baptist Church.
In his spare time, Dwight enjoyed working on lawn mowers, going quail and deer hunting, as well as fishing. Dwight was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his many accomplishments and will cherish the memories he has created for his family and dear friends.
