Earl Willis Cummins (Seymour)'s Obituary
Earl Willis Cummins was born in June of 1929 to William and Mary (Fleetwood) Cummins on a rocky hill-top farm near Seymour. He departed this life on January 20th at the age of 91 ½ years. He spent his growing-up years working the land with his dad and brothers, and attending school in the one-room school of Finley.
Earl served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1954 after earning several citations.
He especially enjoyed fishing trips to the old railroad lake at Cedar Gap, and the still-wild stretches of the White River.
His bachelor days ended in October of 1967 when he met and married Alice Marie McCall of Willard. They spent 53 good years together, working and going to the lake, shopping, and visiting many relatives and friends. Earl retired from Hutchens Industries in Seymour.
Earl was a Christian man who always tried to follow the teaching of the Bible, something he spoke of often. He and Marie attended church in Fordland as long as his health permitted.
Earl is survived by his loving wife Marie of the home, two sisters-in-law, Birdie Cummins of Springfield, and Betty Pittman of Seymour. Preceding him in death were his parents and his stepmother Hattie Cummins, sisters, Marie, Flora, Hazel, Agnes, Pearl, Gladys, Norma, Fern and Nora. Also, his brothers, Virgil, Hershel, Henry, Wesley and Ralph. He was the last one left of this very large family.
Earl was a good son and brother, a good soldier, and a kind and devoted husband. We wish him a well-deserved rest and take great comfort in knowing we will meet again.
