Earl Todd (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Earl Raymond Todd, son of Melton Todd and Frieda Payne, was born July 29, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, four months, and one day.
On November 14, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Jones, and they shared the last sixty-three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dave Todd; a brother, David Todd, and a sister, Mary Jane Carter.
Earl is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; a daughter, Gail Calton, and her husband, Mike, of Grovespring, Missouri; three sons, Keith Todd, and his wife, Cindy, Kenny Todd, all of Grovespring, Missouri, and Larry Todd, of the State of Florida; eight grandchildren, Kelley, Chad, Nathan, Travis, Jami, Nichole, Matt, and Alexis; two step-grandchildren, Sarah and Laura; six great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Vila Ridge community, near Washington, Missouri. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from January 6, 1944 until being honorably discharged on February 7, 1946 during World War II. He then returned to Vila Ridge for a time. Once he and Mary were married, they made their home in St. Louis, and Earl worked for the Scullin Steel Company for a number of years. Later, the family moved to the Grovespring community and made their home. Earl worked for Lowe’s in Lebanon for several years. Earl and Mary began to feel very comfortable in their Grovespring community, and considered Grovespring as their home.
In his spare time he was an avid fisherman. He also took regular trips to Colorado to go hunting. He was always steadfast in his convictions. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having his grandchildren around him.
Earl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his ninety.
