Edith C. Camp (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Edith Caroline Camp, daughter of Joseph and Bertha Schmitt, was born May 27, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio. She departed this life Wednesday, February 20, 2019, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, eight months, and twenty-four days.
On October 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Nolan Edmund Ray Camp, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nolan, on January 3, 2012; a brother, Joseph Schmitt; and three sisters, Catherine Lutz, Betty Bebler, and Nancy Struhs.
Edith is survived by her children, Roland Camp, and his wife, Kathryn, of Munster, Indiana, Susette Dorsey, and her husband, Bob Giovannoni, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Diane Zurawski, of Griffith, Indiana, Linda Camp, of Hammond, Indiana, and Robert Camp, of Lebanon, Missouri; her grandchildren, Caroline Ill, and her husband, Peter, John Camp, Sasha Camp, Matthew Zurawski and Michael Zurawski; a brother, Howard Schmitt, and his wife, Alma, of Hope Valley, Rhode Island; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1945 to 1954. After she and Nolan were married they made their home in Indiana. Edith was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and was a loving mother to her children. When Nolan retired in 1983, they moved to Lebanon, Missouri.
Edith was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hammond, Indiana, where she was very active in Ladies Aid. While living in Lebanon, she was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was involved in several organizations in the church throughout the years.
She was a fan of the Peanuts comic strips and television programs. She enjoyed camping and vacationing with the family. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren.
Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-two years.
