Edith Jackson (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Edith Evolyn Jackson, age 89, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at the CMH Care Facility, Bolivar, MO., after a long illness. Edith was born December 6, 1929, in Breckenridge, MO., to Alva and Margaret (Guffey) Spidle. The family moved to Kansas City, MO during WWII at which time Edith worked at the Lake City Munitions Plant in Independence, MO. She worked many years at the Leeds Rival Manufacturing Plant in Kansas City, MO and then worked for the Kansas City Royals Baseball Team prior to her retirement.
In 1952 she married the love of her life John E. Jackson, Jr. who preceded her in death after nearly 40 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her brother Harlan Spidle and sisters Ida Cox and Carol Burch.
Edith is survived by her son and wife, Mike and Patty Hughes of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter and husband Linda and Roger Swank of Bolivar, MO; and son and wife Len and Mary Jackson of Camdenton, MO. Her brother DeLoyd Spidle of Clinton, MO., and sisters Julia Edler of Bolivar, MO., and Wyvon Dawson of Joplin, MO; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven great- great grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral Services for Edith Jackson will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Flemington Cemetery, Flemington, MO.
