Edith May Ownby (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Edith May (Clemmons) Ownby, daughter of the late Claude and Maude Clemmons, was the fifth of eight children and was born on October 24, 1934. She passed away at home on Sunday, October 10, 2021, with her loved ones by her side. She was 86 years old.
Edith was saved at the age of twelve and baptized into Plad Baptist Church. At a later time, her membership moved to Pisgah Baptist church.
Edith worked at H.D. Lee Co. in Lebanon for many years and also found joy in waitressing and visiting with everyone at the Victorian Steakhouse in Buffalo.
Edith loved playing cards and would get together with her siblings every Tuesday. She enjoyed time with her family, especially when all the grandkids came to see her.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard R. Ownby; her parents; and three grandchildren, Amy Dawn Ownby, Lucas Neil Ownby, and Molly Ownby. She is survived by her four children, Stanley Ownby of Buffalo, MO, Steven Ownby and wife Treona of Long Lane, MO, Sharlene Highfill and husband David of Buffalo, MO, Sheila Gan and husband Jimmy of Lebanon, MO; sister-in-law, Pauline Ownby of Springfield, MO; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral in with Bro. Thomas Clemmons officiating. Escorts will be Marcus Ownby, Shane Ownby, Corey Ownby, Lewis Ownby, Adam McDaniel, Chad Edde, and Ryan Edde. Honorary escorts will be her granddaughters. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude Cancer Research.
