Return to top Riles, Noal, 88 Noal Arvil Riles, son of John and Nettie Carpenter Riles, was born December 25, 1919, near Dexter, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, eight months, and two days. On March 7, 1940, he was united in marriage to Sarah Lorene Huggins, and to this union three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cassie Knight; four half-brothers, Jimmy, Ardie, Charlie, and Tommy Riles; and two half-sisters, Ellie Hood, and Effie Shepherd. Noal is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Lorene, of the home; three daughters, Carol Christeson, and her husband, Lynn, of Webster City, Iowa, Saundra Titus, and her husband, Wyn, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Judy Halvorsen, and her husband, Jim, of Santa Barbara, California; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother, Lowell Riles, of Buffalo, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Southeast Missouri, near Dexter. He then moved to Iowa, where after he and Lorene were married, they made their home in the Clarion, Iowa area and lovingly raised their daughters. Noal worked on a farm for a few years, before starting his own trucking business. He then owned and operated a General Motors Car Dealership, C & R Buick and Pontiac and GMC Trucks, in the Clarion area. Throughout the fifteen years he was in the automobile sales business he made many long standing customers and friends. In 1979, he and Lorene moved to Missouri and in 1993, they made their home in Lebanon. Noal had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended Holmes Baptist Church, in Holmes, Iowa for many years. In his spare time he liked gardening and caring for his yard, always keeping a well manicured lawn. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Noal was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday August 30, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.A memorial has been established to the Community Baptist Church and donations may be made through the funeral home.
