Edna D. Lewis (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Edna Delilah Lewis, daughter of Charley Thomas and Lillie Mae Bingham Wilson, was born November 26, 1928, near Brownfield, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, February 23, 2012, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, two months, and twenty-five days.
On January 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Delbert Laverne Lewis, and to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert, on May 22, 2011; three brothers, Dewey, Glennis, and Rev. Curtis Wilson; and two sisters, Opal Munholland, and Berthenia Light.
Edna is survived by two sons, Charles Lewis, and his wife, Teresa, and Randy Lewis, and his wife, Lynn, all of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Josh, Travis, Amy, Zach, Stephanie, Mandy, Shawn, Jeremy, Travis, and Wes; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Dicie Decker, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Beulah Wilson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Crossroads community, near Lebanon, Missouri, and attended Crossroads School. After she and Delbert were married, they made their home on their cattle farm, near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their sons. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Edna also helped Delbert in the operation of their farms.
Edna professed her faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Later, she attended Second Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her younger years, she enjoyed square dancing and had taken part in several competitions. “Chubby”, as she was lovingly called by her family and friends, was an excellent cook particularly known for her homemade noodles, and always made sure her grandchildren had good family meals. She looked forward to Christmas shopping each year with her sisters, and also going to yard sales. She loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
