Edna Jarvis' Obituary
Edna Mae Miller Jarvis, daughter of Adam Estrell and Delilah Carolyn (Haney) Cole was born October 12, 1915 in Houston, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri at the age of ninety-four years, five months, and eighteen days. She was united in marriage to William Henry Miller May 16, 1936 and to this union two children were born. He passed away July 8, 1969, and on February 20, 1971 she married William Farrel Jarvis who preceded her in death on June 10, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, John, Jim, Everett and Cecil Cole; and two sisters, Myrtle Dawson and Mamie Miller. Edna is survived by her children, Beverly Peters and her husband, Joe, and Jerry Miller and his wife, Linda, all of Seymour, Missouri; a step-son, John Jarvis and his wife, Sylvia, of Reeds Spring, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kathy Smith and her husband, Jackie, Joe Bill Peters, Cindy Miller, Teresa Hetner and her husband, Lance, Brenda Dunham, and Jeff Miller and his wife, Cristy; three step-grandchildren, Tina Fonseca and her husband, Salvador, Bud Jardine, Nick Jardine and his wife, Tanya; twenty great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jewell Farmer, of Cody, Wyoming and Blanche Ross, of Houston, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She grew up in Houston, Missouri and moved to Iowa where she and Bill Miller were married. After their two children were born, they moved back to the farm near Houston to make their home. In l947 the family moved to Seymour, Missouri where they owned and operated Miller’s Café for seventeen years. Following Bill’s death, Edna moved back to Houston and in 1971 she and Farrel were married, and eventually moved back to Seymour where she remained until her death. Edna had made her profession of faith in God and followed the Baptist faith throughout her life. In her spare time she enjoyed doing all types of needlework, growing beautiful flowers, and cooking for her family and friends. She was known as a “prankster”, who loved to pull pranks on her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday April 2, 2010 at the Holman - Howe Funeral Home Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-8:00 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
