Edna Kissee's Obituary
Edna Gerldine Kissee, daughter of Elmer Elsworth and Ida Loretta Pope Rhodes, was born September 1, 1911 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She departed this life Friday, August 29, 2008, in Table Rock Healthcare, in Kimberling City, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, eleven months and twenty-eight days. In 1948 she was united in marriage to Carl James Kissee, who preceded her in death on October 3, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Velma Miller; two granddaughters; two sisters and five brothers. Edna is survived by three children, Lois Nurnberg and her husband, Bill, of Washington, Missouri, Loren D. Chase and his wife, Patricia, of North Adams, Michigan and Karen Tutt, of Branson West, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Joy, David, Geri Lynn, Gail, Gretchen, Steve, Dawn and Kelly; twenty-two great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the family later moved to North Adams, Michigan, where she graduated from high school and attended business college. She continued to live in Michigan until moving to the Hartville area for a few years and then to Springfield where she worked at the M.F.A. Meat Packing Company where she met Carl. They married and moved to Washington State for eleven years to work as fruit pickers. In 1968 they returned to Wright County where they resided for many years. In 1999 she moved to Stone County to be close to her daughter. She centered her life around her family and loved being with them. In earlier years she was a member of Grange, and other community women’s clubs. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, traveling, doing plastic canvas, and was a member of a bowling league. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed but will live on in our hearts forever. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience at the Funeral Home under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri. Return to top
