Edna 'Sue' Woods (Seymour)'s Obituary
Edna Sue Woods, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, unexpectedly departed this life on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at her home in rural Seymour, Missouri. Sue, as she was known to most, was fifty-three years and eleven months young at the time of her sudden passing.
One of four children, Sue was born September 7, 1962, in Springfield, Missouri, to Walter Lynn and Ellen Lucille (Gibson) Hutchinson. She was raised in Ozark, Missouri, and was a graduate of the Ozark High School Class of 1980. Upon graduation at the age of 17, Sue joined the United States Navy. She proudly and dutifully served her country for just over twenty years, retiring in October of 2002. While stationed in San Diego, California, Sue met the love of her life and on January 6, 1990, she was united in marriage to Brian M. Woods, a U.S. Navy serviceman himself. The Woods’ family happily expanded and their continued service to their country took them over the years from California to Tennessee, Louisiana to Florida, then Denver, and finally Seymour in 2001. In 2007, after much hard work and dedication, Sue obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Columbia College. Edna Sue was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Charles Wensel. Sue leaves behind Brian, her devoted husband of twenty-six and a half years; son, John Medvec and wife, Adrienne, of Ozark, Missouri; daughter, Amberrose Cone and husband, Brandon, of Bremerton, Washington; and son, Charles Woods of Seymour; four grandchildren, Isabel, Loralei, Harvey and Elliott; her parents, Lynn and Ellen Hutchinson of Ozark; brothers, Jeff Hutchinson and wife, Vanessa, and Mike Hutchinson, all of Ozark; and sister, Jaima Grover and husband, Bill, of Springfield; her mother-in-law, Edith Marie Wensel, and sister-in-law, Lora Marquis and husband, Larry, all of Delano, California; brother-in-law, Stanley and Vanessa Woods, of Andrews, Texas; nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family; many more dear friends, neighbors and comrades. Edna Sue Woods was a cherished wife and mother, a fun-loving grandma, a caring daughter and sister, and a loyal friend. Sue was a very intelligent and fun-spirited person with a bright smile. She loved her family dearly and they loved her. Sue’s sudden passing has left hearts broken, but the many fond memories of times spent together will remain treasured in the hearts and minds of family and friends.
