Edward Boer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Edward Boer, son of Peter and Anna Vennema Boer, was born March 6, 1934, in Lansing, Illinois. He departed this life Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, nine months, and five days.
On March 25, 1955, he was united in marriage to Bernice Kooy, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Tina Bosman, and Matilda Zandstra.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Bernice, of the home; two daughters, Ann Vierkant, and her husband, Greg, of Springfield, Missouri, and Ilene Boer, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Gerald Boer, and his wife, Rojennia, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Edward D. Boer, and his wife, Mitzi, of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Rehnoda, Bradley, Christopher, Stephanie, Matthew, Laura, Michael, and Sierra; four brothers, Jacob Boer, and his wife, Betty, of Lansing, Illinois, Peter Boer, and his wife, Eunice, of Zeeland, Michigan, Leonard Boer, and his wife, Teresa, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, and Arthur Boer, and his wife, Eleanor, of Lansing, Illinois; three sisters, Clara Bos, and her husband, Gary, of Orland Park, Illinois, Ida Haak, and her husband, John, of Beecher, Illinois, and Anna Ruth Staggs, and her husband, Tom, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Lansing, Illinois, and then lived in that same area for the next several years. After he and Bernice were married, they started their married life in Lansing, and began raising their family there. Edward worked in the trucking business as a driver for many years. The family then moved to Pleasant Hope, Missouri, and Ed worked for Meek’s Lumber. For the last several years, he and Bernice had made their home in Lebanon, Missouri.
Edward had made his profession of faith in Christ and was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked cutting firewood. He also enjoyed bowling. He was very skilled in mathematics and had a good mind for numbers. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years.
