Edward H. Simmons' Obituary
Edward Herbert Simmons, son of George Adolphus and Pearl Borden Simmons, was born in Riverside, California. He departed this life, Thursday, March 29, 2007 in Windsor Estates, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, one month and twenty-seven days. On June 13, 1975 in Reno, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Mary Alice McVeigh and together they shared the past thirty-one years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Simmons. Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; three children, Jean Butler and husband Eddie Dean of the state of Oregon, George Simmons and wife Jan of Forsythe, Montana and Mary Ann Juchniewicz of Panama City, Florida; a step-daughter, Marianne Gellerman of Camdenton, Missouri: a brother, Charles Simmons and wife Jeannette of Ventura, California; nine grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; eleven great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Ed was raised in California and shortly after high school graduation; he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned to California and began a career in the fertilizer industry. In 1981, he retired from Oxy Chem Fertilizing Division. He and Mary then moved to the lake area. He was a former Mason and attended Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Camdenton. In his spare time, he enjoyed fixing up old cars. He had owned in the past a 1936 Dodge and a 1939 Chevy. Most of all, he was a devoted family man. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends Services will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Private burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or Region Care Hospice may be made through the funeral home.
