Edward Lawler's Obituary
Edward Ray Lawler, son of Lester Richard and Clyda Mae (Harlamert) Lawler, was born March 2, 1950, near St. George, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 27, 2011, in Select Specialty Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-one years, four months and twenty-five days.
On July 1, 1972, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Doss, and to this union a daughter and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jim Lawler.
Ray is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; his three children, Laura Hoelewyn and husband, Timothy, of Nacogdoches, TX, Bryant Lawler and wife, Cristie, of Fort Rucker, AL, and W.J. Lawler and wife, Angela, of Hartville, MO; eight grandchildren, David and Paige Hoelewyn, Terrance, Elisha, Owen and Matthew Lawler, and Brian and Ethan Lawler; three sisters, Yvonne Wiggins of Dillon, MT, Deloris Spencer of Hartville, MO, and Sandra Mack and husband, Michael, of Bluffton, SC; two brothers, Kenneth Lawler of Mountain Grove, MO and Lavon Lawler and wife, Joanne, of Kansas City, KS; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Ray arrived quite special delivery, being born in the Post Office at St. George. All his childhood was lived in the area, attending the Cope School and later Hartville High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1968. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army, being honorably discharged on October 6, 1971. He returned to Wright County, later moving to Oklahoma where he married Mary. He attended Oklahoma State Technical College, where he received an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology. He went to work for Phillips Petroleum and he and Mary moved to Brazoria, TX for a number of years. In 1996 they returned to the Hartville area where they have made their home since.
Ray had professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was of the Free Will Baptist Faith. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He was a quit and reserved man and enjoyed his solitude. He liked reading history, drawing, writing, art, being in the outdoors and hunting in earlier years.
Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather, was a treasured brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral services for Ray Lawler will be held at 10:30 am Monday August 1, 2011 in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri> Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery, North of Hartville.
A visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday July 31, in the funeral home
