Edward Lee Jackson's Obituary
Edward Lee Jackson, son of Henry Y. and Myrtle M. Small Jackson, was born June 13, 1929, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, April 7, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, nine months, and twenty-four days. On June 10, 2005, he was united in marriage to Helen Adkins and together they shared the last three years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Ann Dodson; and two sisters, Viola and Helen. Edward is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; four daughters, Sharon Marie Dodson, and her husband, Stephen, of Macks Creek, Missouri, Veda Sue Obermann, and Barbara Kay Quiram, and her husband, Alan, all of Huron, South Dakota, and Michelle LeAnn Mishler, and her husband, David, of Sedalia, Missouri; a son, Guy Edward Jackson, and his wife, Joy, of Camdenton, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an aunt, Mabel Floyd, of Wheatland, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Pleasant Hill and Kansas City area. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1947 until 1952 and was stationed in Italy during part of that time. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to South Dakota. In 1959, he moved his family to Missouri, and made their home in the Eldon area. He worked as a mechanic and owned a radiator shop for several years. He also had worked as a driver for the Pink Elephant and Ready Mix Company in Osage Beach. In addition he worked in law enforcement for the Camden County Sheriff’s Department and drove a fire truck and an ambulance. He moved to Illinois for a few years and then returned to Missouri, where he made his home in Lebanon for the last thirteen years. He operated a “fix it” business and also managed apartments in Lebanon. Edward joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church while living in Arizona in 1971, and was very active in the Lebanon church for the last few years. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and deer hunting. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be in the Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
