Edward Marty's Obituary
Edward Martain “Marty” Rice, Jr., age 57, of Bolivar Missouri passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after a long illness. He was born April 25, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward Martin Rice and Nettie Lorraine Comstock Rice. He was an over the road Truck Driver and a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was Baptised at the early age of 13 and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed his family and was a wonderful father and enjoyed playing with hid grandkids. He loved baseball and enjoyed being outside taking care of his flowers and gardening. Marty is survived by his wife; Valorie Davis Rice of Bolivar, Missouri, a son; Patrick Rice and his wife Donna of Bolivar, Missouri, six daughters; Jennifer Ross and her husband James of Bolivar, Missouri, Christy Taylor and her husband Orlando of Bolivar, Missouri, Tammy Woolverton and her husband Jason of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Trish Berry and her husband Heath of Bolivar, Missouri, Jessica Ashlock and her husband Jeremy of Bolivar, Missouri, Pam Rice and Dan Voight of Bolivar, Missouri, 18 grandchildren; Juley, Zackary, Megan, Crystal, Alycia, Mason, Tony, Patrick, Daniel, Hunter, Gage, Lance, Nicholas, Brandon, Logan, Landen, Shane, and Baby-yet to be born, six brothers; Floyd Rice and his wife Brenda of Independence, Missouri, Dale Carpenter and his wife Tina of Kansas City, Missouri, Timmy Carpenter and his wife Cindy of Independence, Missouri, Bob Cobb of Kansas City, Missouri, Billy Carpenter of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Gene Carpenter of Kansas City, Missouri, two sisters; Teresa Loyd of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Edith Smith and her husband Darrel of Oak Grove, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Rodney Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Reed Cemetery south of halfway, Missouri with full military honors provided by the AMVETS Post #114 of Flemington, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Patrick Rice, Orlando Taylor, James Ross, Heath Berry, Jeremy Ashlock, Zackary Ross, Jason Woolverton, Dan Voight and Rusty DeWitt.
