Edward Jacob Young (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Edward Jacob Young, son of the late Wesley and Jessie Birdella (Howe) Young, was born on June 1, 1930 in Jacksonville, IL, and departed this life on Friday, February 17, 2023 at his home near Louisburg, MO. At the time of his passing he was 92 years, eight months, and 15 days of age.
Edward was raised in Illinois were he worked for the Rail Road as a car knocker and for the Edwardsville School District. He was united in marriage to Amy Schneider and to this union three children were born, all of whom survive him. After retiring from his job in Illinois, he moved to Missouri and bought a farm near Urbana. Along with his farm work he worked for the Buffalo School System and after 12+ years would officially retire. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and working on his farm. Edward loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife Amy; his parents; and one infant sister. He is survived by his three children, John & wife Sharon Young of Highland, IL; Amy & husband Robert Sharp of Brighton, MO, and Susan & husband Gary Chapman of Worden, IL: five grandchildren, Steven Young, Rebecca & husband Rick Temple, Sarah & husband Joshua Appleby, Angela Chapman, and Thomas & wife Angela Chapman; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. Escorts will be John Young, Gary Chapman, Tom Chapman, Steven Young, Jim Young, and Bradley Mann. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
