Elaine L McGhghy (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Elaine Lee McGhghy, daughter of Rex and Charlotte V. Smith Garvin, was born April 3, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa. She departed this life Sunday, June 18, 2017, in Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, one month, and fifteen days.
On June 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Paul J. McGhghy, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in 1997; two sons, Mitchell R. McGhghy and Timothy P. McGhghy; one daughter Pamela K. McGhghy; and one brother, Carol Garvin.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Holly McGhghy of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Diana Gray and husband, Raymond of Nickerson, Nebraska, and Marcella Long and husband, Don, of Elmo Missouri; a niece, as well as a host of friends.
She was born and raised in Iowa. She graduated from Clarinda High School in Clarinda, Iowa. She was a social worker for the State of Iowa and later for the State of Missouri.
Elaine enjoyed her morning coffee, time in the park and, reading her Bible. She liked reading, flowers, gardening and picnics. She especially loved her dog, Katie. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with them.
Elaine was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her seventy-six years.
