Elaine Revel (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Blanche Elaine Revel, daughter of Harlan Woodland and Blanche I. Long Henderson, was born June 22, 1931, in Provo, Utah. She departed this life Tuesday, March 13, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, eight months, and twenty-one days.
In 1949, she was united in marriage to Lesley Leroy Craven, who passed away on May 4, 1961.
On December 15, 1962, she married James Milton Revel, who passed away on April 14, 2009.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dr. Catherine Marie Craven; brother, John M. Henderson, and sister, Shirley Long Nebeker.
Elaine is survived by six daughters, Ivy Craven Allen, and her husband, Tom, of West Jordan, Utah, Janet Hulbert, of Cedar City, Utah, Janis Hauwert, and her husband, Gerard, of San Jose, California, Carroll Craven, of Plato, Missouri, Rosalie Gerber, and her husband, Richard, of Jackson, Missouri, and Kimberly Revel, of the State of New Mexico; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Henderson, and his wife, Marie, of the State of Nevada; two sisters, Cecil Thompson, and Sue Young, and her husband, Jim, both of Englewood, Colorado; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born and raised in Provo, Utah, and then moved with her family to Oakland, California. After she and Lesley were married, they lived in various places while he served in the military. Those places included Corpus Christi, Texas, Kentucky, Georgia, and Alaska. Through the years, Elaine was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and a loving mother to their children. After she and James were married, they made their home in California and then in Payson, Utah. Later in her life, she made her home in Lebanon, Missouri.
Elaine was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had received the Daughter of Pioneer Award and the Golden Gleaner award from her church organization. She was very involved in all phases of church work including indexing church records for a time.
She enjoyed making quilts and had made quilts for various charitable organizations through the years. She also liked crocheting, working puzzles, playing games, and was very competitive. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
A Memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
