Elbert Jeffries' Obituary
lbert Junior Jeffries, son of Leslie and Addie Ethel Hill Jeffries, was born December 8, 1925, near Laquey, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, March 17, 2008, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, three months, and nine days. On April 1, 1978, he was united in marriage to Helen Ruth Willey and together they shared the last thirty years. His parents, and a son, Raymond Jeffries, preceded him in death. Elbert is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; three daughters, Lisa Wideman, and her husband, Henry, of Laquey, Missouri, Mary Lou Drake, and her husband, Robert, of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Barbara Wallraven, and her husband, Mark, of Bethany, Oklahoma; three sons, Merrell Jefferies, and his wife, Virginia, of Laquey, Missouri, Garry Jeffries, and his wife, Debbie, and Mark Harston, and his wife, Ann, all of Richland, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Laquey community. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from March 7, 1944 until May 21, 1946, during World War II. For most of this time he was stationed on the U.S.S. Massachusetts and was honorably discharged as a Seaman, First Class. He then returned to the Laquey area and began a career as a truck driver for Independent Stave Company. For the last twenty-seven years, he and Helen had made their home in the Lebanon area. Elbert had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Idumea Baptist Church, near Laquey. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing. He also liked doing woodworking projects in his workshop. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed spending time with them. Elbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Mount Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Lebanon. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Alzheimers Foundation may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
