Elda D. Snellings' Obituary
Elda Doom Snellings, son of George Arthur and Ellen Degraffenreid Snellings, was born February 17, 1919 in Montreal, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, January 6, 2008 in his home in Montreal, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, ten months and twenty days. On May 10, 1941 in Camdenton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Dollie Shepherd and to this union two sons were born. Together they shared sixty-one years until her passing on November 5, 2002. Elda was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Elda Eugene “Gene” Snellings; an infant son, Jerl; three grandchildren, Stacey, Eric and Travis; three brothers, Jim, Frank and Basil; and three sisters, Annie, Dollie and Stella. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Helen Snellings, of Montreal, Missouri; five grandchildren, B.J. Randle and his wife, Monica, of Montrose, Missouri, Jerri Dawn Wilson and her husband, Daryl, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Kerri Adkins and her husband, Danny, of Richmond, Missouri, Toni Lewis and her husband, Randy, of Phillipsburg, Missouri and Bobbi Jo Randall and her husband, Brandon, of Montreal, Missouri; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Elda was a life-long resident of Montreal, Missouri. He was a hard worker who worked many places, doing whatever the job required to support his family. In his early days he worked as a logger. He would clear the land in exchange for an acre of the land. That continued until he cleared the farm he was currently residing on. He was a farmer at heart and had operated combines and enjoyed working the land. He had a special talent for raising calves on the bottle. He was a member of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed logging, running a combine and coon hunting. He especially enjoyed visiting with neighbors and spending time with his family. Poppy was a loving father-in-law, grandpa and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his many accomplishments. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Missouri. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
