Eldon Francis North (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Eldon Francis North, age 95, left this life on March 1, 2013 while residing at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar Missouri.
He was born December 10, 1917 to Arley H. North and Cora (Walker) North in Laclede County, Missouri. Eldon lived his childhood years in Laclede and Camden Counties in the areas of Sleeper, Eldridge, Tunnel Dam, and Macks Creek.
Eldon served in the U. S. Army during WWII from 1941 through 1945, he was a member of the 30th Infantry 01 692 592 Cannon Company. Eldon was wounded in action November 2, 1944. He was granted an Honorable Discharge as 1st Lieutenant with honors of: Purple Heart, Bronze Star Metal with 1 Cluster, Presidential Citation, and European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 7 Bronze Stars. He enjoyed telling stories of his travels to Morocco, Tunisian, Sicilian, Naples, Rome, France, and Germany. Eldon was active in the reunions of Cannon Company which called themselves “Cannoneers”.
Upon returning to the states, he reunited with his sweet heart Willeta McDowell, they were married on September 26, 1945. Eldon and Willeta had 2 daughters Jenny Lou and Jerry Sue. They resided on the farm outside of Buffalo, Missouri. Eldon not only farmed but also worked construction; building many houses around the area. Willeta passed away on May 21, 1981, after 36 years of marriage.
After some time, Eldon started another phase of his life with June Legan. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1985. Eldon now had two step sons, Ken and Kyle, both of which he was very proud. Eldon and June enjoyed their retirement together, and because they were together, lived a longer and fuller life. June passed away February 10, 2013, after 27 years of marriage.
Eldon is survived by his daughters; Jenny Lou Weed and Jerry Sue Chudomelka, grandchildren; Darin E Heard and his wife Tammy, Corey J. Heard, Amanda J. Dishman and her husband Dane, and Wanda K. Chudomelka, 10 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, step-sons; Ken Legan and his wife Becky, Kyle Legan and his wife Rita, step-grandchildren; Brock Legan and his wife Sonja, Stephanie Howard and her husband Tom, Mark Legan and his wife Angela, Amber Sergent and her husband Wayne, 9 step-great-grandchildren, her sisters; Pauline Willey, Marjorie Andrews, and Eva Creech and her husband Billy, brother; Arthur North and his wife Glenda, along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
