On April 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dean Holcomb, and to this union one son and two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Dean Holcomb; her grandson Nicholas Holcomb; her parents, her brother Russell Pool; her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Dayle Holcomb. Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Becky Moody and husband Norman of Mansfield ,Missouri, Pat Pearce and husband Dale of Seymour, Missouri ; one son Phillip Holcomb and wife Toni of Rogersville, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Betty Pool; many dear nieces and nephews, a special friend Edwin Hailey and a host of other family and dear friends. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1943. Shortly after, she attended Telephone Operator School in Texas and began working as an operator in the area. She spent most of her adult life working on the farm. Eleanor had many jobs over the years, she was a teacher at the Flint Hollow School, worked in the Apple House, in the MFA Store, as well as the McBee Binder factory, but her real life occupation was raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eleanor had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she faithfully served him throughout her life. She and Dean attended the First Christian Church of Seymour, right after their marriage, and continued until their passing. She was a steadfast Christian, whose faith never waivered when times were tough. She taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School classes, as well as serving on the board. She dearly loved her church and her church family. She enjoyed the many blessings the Lord had given her from her love of the outdoors to the simple joys of tending her gardens. The array of colors of her flower beds reflected in her many beautiful quilts. She enjoyed sharing memories with loved one’s, every smile, just sitting with her dog Charley or simply cooking for her family; she gave us special moments to cherish. Eleanor Marie (Pool) Holcomb was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love for her family and friends to carry on. We celebrate her life, and take comfort in the truth of our Lord Jesus, that one day we will meet again.
