Eleanor Hazel Lippy (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Eleanor Hazel Lippy, daughter of Lloyd B. Hopkins, Sr. and Eleanor C. Baumgartner Hopkins, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on the first day of the year in 1937. She departed this life Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the age of eighty-seven years, ten months and five days.
Eleanor, known as ‘Puggy’ by her family and friends, grew up in Baltimore and graduated from high school there. She met William Sterling Lippy, Jr. and they were married January 1, 1959. They enjoyed telling the story of how William was born on January 1, she was born on January 1, and they were married on January 1. It was a big day of celebrating for them.
Puggy was employed at W.R. Grace Chemical Company where she served as a lab tech for many years.
In 1984, she and William moved to Missouri and Puggy worked at the H.D. Lee Company in Lebanon. She also helped William in his business and on the farm with the cattle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Eleanor; her loving husband of fifty-eight years, William; her brother, Paul Krueger and a sister, Sylvia Henley.
Puggy is survived by her wonderful son, Bill Lippy, III and his wife Michele of Waynesville, MO.; four grandchildren, Josh Lippy and his wife Jessica of Lebanon, Missouri, Lacy Lippy of Asheville, NC, Matt Jones of Fayetteville, NC, and Jeremy Jones of Dixon, Missouri; her great-grandchildren, Bella, Carson, Hudson and Asher; three brothers, James Hopkins of Maryland, Lloyd Hopkins, Jr. of Texas and Daniel Hopkins of Maryland; a sister, Faith Louden of Pasadena, Maryland; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She and William loved traveling with their Airstream camper. They were members of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International and enjoyed traveling with their Airstream friends throughout the country.
Puggy was active at Washington Christian Church. She loved God with all her heart and her church family was very dear to her.
She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She also had a wonderful garden and would can many quarts of vegetables each year. Puggy also liked going to the area casinos.
Most of all, Puggy loved being with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so very important to her and she loved watching them grow and develop their unique and special personalities.
Throughout her life, Puggy was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, embodying the roles of a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was a haven of warmth, love and laughter, where countless memories were created and treasured.
Service for Eleanor Lippy will be Monday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 10 from 2- 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
A memorial to the Ronald McDonald House has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
