Eleanor M. Brandt's Obituary
Eleanor Marie Brandt, daughter of John T. and Lutitia Jones Vance, was born December 10, 1918, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, October 25, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, ten months, and fifteen days. On August 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Theodore Fount Brandt, and together they shared the last fifty-seven years. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Herman, Ivan, Roe, Joe, Johnny, Eddie, and Jess Vance; and two sisters, Ora Truelove, and Zora Long. Marie is survived by her loving husband, Fount, of the home; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Nell Vance, and Freda Knox, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School. In her younger years, she enjoyed working on the farm. After she and Fount were married, they made their home in Lebanon, except for ten years when they lived in Dallas, Texas. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Marie also was the first lady bus driver for the Lebanon R-III Schools. She continued to drive a school bus for sixteen years. Marie had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. She was an avid reader, and particularly enjoyed reading novels. She also liked working in her yard, where she grew many beautiful flowers. She and Fount had a very special relationship and enjoyed spending time together. Marie was an example of a true lady in every way, and loved her family dearly. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
