Eleanor Reynolds (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Eleanor (Pugh) Reynolds died peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 of natural causes at the Manor at Elfindale at the age of 95 years.
Eleanor Mae Pugh was born on November 21, 1922 in Willow Springs, MO the daughter of Ruben and Bertie (Corbin) Pugh. She was the middle of three children.
She married Clarence (Bud) Reynolds on October 15, 1942 and the couple had two children, Daniel George and Janice Mae.
After her husband served in the Marines during World War II they moved to Joplin and then to Bolivar in 1947, where Eleanor lived until 2012 when she became a resident of the Manor at Elfindale in Springfield, MO.
Eleanor loved and was proud of the Bolivar community. Her family often referred to her as an ambassador for the community because she always wanted to show the hospital, college, park, museum and library to visitors.
Eleanor was a beautiful seamstress, a gifted quilter and knitter and an avid reader. She loved watersports, enjoying many years at Lake of the Ozarks family retreat. She sang with the Sweet Adeline’s, traveled, played cards and dominoes with her friends and always had a puzzle to assemble.
She was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church.
Eleanor was a strong person with unending optimism and a great friend who avoided the spotlight but was always spreading her light and joy to all those lives she touched.
Eleanor was the family’s last of her generation, preceded in death by her parents, husband, her children, Danny and Janice, and her brother, Gene Pugh and sister Beatrice Simmons.
She is survived by two nieces, four nephews and their spouses, and a wealth of wonderful friends.
An extremely grateful thank you to all the Staff at the Manor at Elfindale who so richly allowed Eleanor to live at ease, comfort, security, dignity, and fun. She truly loved all of you (her kids you were lovingly called).
