Elgene F. Andrews (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mr. Elgene “Gene” Franklin Andrews, age 87 of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Monday morning, September 26, 2011 at Citizen’s Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri.
He was born April 23, 1924 in Violet, Missouri, the son of Elvet Thomas Andrews and Dolis Elizabeth ( Hocker ) Andrews.
On March 20, 1943 he married Lorene Goldsberry in Bolivar, Missouri.
Gene attended the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri, and was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a Millwright for Hinkle Mechanical Contractors, and also a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Union. Gene retired in 1986, but soon he picked up remodeling and construction jobs on the side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorene Andrews on October 13, 2003, his son, Derrell Andrews, and his brother, Murl Andrews.
He is survived by his four children; Larry Andrews of Halfway, Missouri, Frank Andrews and his wife Patricia of Lexington, Oklahoma, Bruce Andrews and his wife Patty of Halfway, Missouri, Joy Lee Matthews of Liberty, Missouri, one brother; Ben Andrews and his wife Maydean of Halfway, Missouri, one sister; Dixie Haddock and her husband Clyde of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, Wednesday evening, September 28, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday morning, September 29, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar with Dr. Bob Baker and Brother Mike Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Halfway, Missouri. Pallbearers will be; Wesley Andrews, Austin Butterfield, John Andrews, Gary Blackwell, Gary Drake, and Dustin Andrews.
