Elizabeth "Bette" Kenny (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Elizabeth “Bette” Kenny of Lebanon, Missouri passed away early Wednesday morning, April 19, 2023 in Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Lebanon. She was born April 5, 1928 in Norwich, Connecticut to George H. Beckwith and Miriam B. Bliss. At the time of her passing she was ninety-five years and fourteen days.
Bette spent her early years in Connecticut and graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School. She went to Dental Hygienist School and worked in Connecticut, Washington and other places in the Northeast.
On September 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Kenny and to this union, two daughters and a son were born. They lived in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania for twenty-three years before moving to North Carolina for four years. Two years ago she moved to Lebanon, Missouri.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles in 2003; and her brother, George P. Beckwith.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Young and her husband, Tim of Lebanon, Missouri and Lynn Matterer and her husband, Tom of Monroe, North Carolina; her son, Mark Kenny and his wife, Karen of Kenosha, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bette enjoyed knitting, sewing and doing crafts. She also did volunteer work and volunteered at the Blind Association in Pennsylvania for several years.
She also had a fondness for dogs, birds and bird watching. She also loved attending tea parties with her friends.
Her favorite times were those spent with her family. She loved deeply and although there were many miles between her and her grandchildren, she made sure the times were special and memories were made that would make a lasting impression on them.
Bette lived through the great depression and saw many changes in her life time. She treasured her children and grandchildren and was so proud of each of them. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services for Elizabeth "Bette" Kenny will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Waverly, Pennsylvania with Tim Young officiating.
A memorial to St. Jude's Hospital has been established and donations may be made at the funeral home.
