Elizabeth "Shirley" Sence (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Elizabeth Shirley Sence, daughter of Edwin M. and Helen Norris Fisher, was born April 24, 1926, in Wichita, Kansas. She departed this life Thursday, February 4, 2016, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, nine months, and eleven days.
In 1946, in Hutchinson, Kansas, she was united in marriage to James N. Louser, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
On September 20, 1973, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she was married to Stanley R. Sence, and they shared thirty-four years before his passing on May 13, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra E. Grover; a son-in-law, James Todd; and a granddaughter, Deandra Grover.
Shirley is survived by a daughter, Kathleen J. Todd, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Eugene M. Louser, and his wife, Isabel, and James R. Louser, all of Denver, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Shannon, Sean, Marsha, Carrie, Keith, Jeanette, Ryan, Jeremy, David, and Amy; eleven great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Margo Dorwin, of the State of Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Wichita, Kansas area, and graduated from Ness City High School, in the Class of 1944. She moved to Fort Collins, Colorado for a few years, and then on to Denver, Colorado for most of her adult years. She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and also worked in the Deli Department of a Safeway Store for a number of years. She came to Lebanon, Missouri about eight years ago to be near her daughter.
Shirley was saved and baptized at a young age, and was raised in the Methodist faith.
She had belonged to the Elks Lodge in Denver for several years. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, going to the theater and movies, sewing and working in her garden. She was a very friendly person, a wonderful hostess and loved to entertain people in her home. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the memories she created for them during her eighty-nine years.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. No services are planned at this time.
