Elizabeth Ann Sprague (Bolivar)'s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elizabeth “Ann” Sprague shares that she passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. She was 78 years old. Ann was born in rural Bolivar, Missouri on November 23, 1946. Her parents were Ralph and Ophie Redman, and her sisters and brothers were June, Fern, Donald, and Jimmy. She married a preacher named Joe Sprague on April 19, 1963. They spent 62 years together. To this union was born a son, Chris Sprague, whom she loved so dearly. Ann was a devoted preacher’s wife and lovingly ironed Joe’s many, many shirts that he wore to church and revivals. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, and seamstress. She was a self-taught professional baker and made many beautiful wedding, birthday, and special occasion cakes for many family members and friends. She leaves behind a testimony of salvation, and many times shared how the Lord saved her at Campbell Grove Missionary Baptist Church when she was a young girl. She was a life-long member of Walnut Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Van, Missouri. She had a lovely singing voice and played the piano hymns so beautifully at Van Church. She was an active member there until her health failed. Ann loved her family and church family dearly and sent up many, many prayers on their behalf. She is survived by her husband, Joe Sprague; son, Chris Sprague and wife Vickie; granddaughter, Kacie, great-grandson, Wes; sister, June Stephens (Ron); brother, Jim Redman (Liz); as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, dear loved ones, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ophie Redman, sister Fern Carpenter (Bub); brother, Donald Redman; sisters-in-law, Marcella Hill (Don), Loretta Breshears (John), and Barbara Sue Wright (Dale). She will be lovingly missed but we know for sure that she is in Heaven Above and that we will see her again. Services for Ann will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Visitation will take place the night before on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home.
