Ella "Arlyene" Rippee (Hartville)'s Obituary
Ella Arlyene Rippee, daughter of Everett Lee and Nettie Arlie Wood Gregory, was born May 26, 1927 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, January 17, 2013 in the James River Care and Rehabilitation Center, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, seven months, and twenty-two days.
On April 6, 1947, Arlyene was united in marriage to James “Jim” Everett Rippee, and together they shared fifty-three years until Jim’s passing on January 4, 2000.
Arlyene was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Marie Garner; and three brothers Gene, Donnie, and Gerald Gregory.
She is survived by her children, Gary Rippee of Hartville, Missouri, Phil Rippee and wife Crystal of Hartville, Missouri, and Jan Rippee of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Dr. Michael Rippee and wife Jill of Kansas City, Missouri, Meagan Rippee of Phoenix, Arizona, and Stephen Rippee of Georgetown, Illinois; step-grandchildren, Amber Dolan and husband Nick of Marshfield, Missouri, Jacob Jones of Nevada, Missouri, Jesse Jones of Springfield, Missouri, and Jared Jones of Hartville, Missouri; great-grandson, Thomas Rippee; two step-great-granddaughters, Kendyl and Madelyn Dolan; two brothers, Jesse Gregory and wife Aletta of Springfield, Missouri and Jim Gregory and wife Kay of Rogersville, Missouri; a sister, Maxine Smith of Hartville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Joan Meigs of Hartville, Missouri and Margaret Gregory of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Arlyene was born and raised in Wright County. She attended Mountain Grove High School and was a graduate in the Class on 1944. After she and Jim were married, the couple made their home on a farm West of Hartville. Arlyene went to work for Hartville Schools as a bookkeeper in 1959 and retired from the same position in 1990.
She had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Hartville. She served the church as secretary from 1956 until 1993. Arlyene also served as the secretary of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery since its inception in 1968 until her passing.
She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Extension club and in her spare time she enjoyed cross stitching, working in ceramics, gardening and collecting angels.
Arlyene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
