Ellen A. Cortner (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Ellen Arevenna Cortner passed away Saturday evening, April 19, 2014 at Citizen’s Memorial Healthcare Facility, in Bolivar, Missouri at the age of 92.
Arevenna was born on March 12, 1922 to John R. and Emma (Mann) Lynch. She grew up the in area, working at the local hardware store, and delivering milk. She met and later married Robert Cortner, in the late 40’s. They moved to South Carolina where Robert worked in the shipyards during the Korean War. Arevenna taught Sunday school there, and continued to teach for most of her life. In 1954 Their son Robert Jr. was born. In 1973 Robert Sr. retired and the family moved back to Bolivar.
Arevenna loved photography, and especially loved getting together with her family.
She is survived by her son, Robert Cortner, Jr., of Halfway, Missouri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arvenna is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Sr.; one brother, Voris Lynch; and two sisters, Novela Cortner, and Goldie Hawkins.
