Elliott LeClair Smith (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Elliott LeClair Smith, son of Dr. Fred Alva and Chloe Alma Dowty Smith, was born December 7, 1933, near Richland, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, December 19, 2020, in his home, near Stoutland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, and twelve days.
On January 22, 1954, he was united in marriage to Doris E. Miller, and to this union two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nicholas Smith; and a brother, Channing Smith.
Elliott is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Doris, of the home; two sons, Kendall Smith, and his wife, Julie, of Richland, Missouri, and Randy Smith, and his wife, Gina, of Stoutland, Missouri; six grandchildren, Shane, Mandy, Micah, Kathleen, Bob, and Chris; eight great-grandchildren, Miri, Jason, Ethan, Marshall, Maddox, Molly, Grayson, and Ella; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived his entire life in the Richland and Stoutland areas, and graduated from Stoutland High School in the Class of 1951. He then attended Drury University for four years. He began working at the Railway Express Agency in Waynesville, Missouri. He was employed by the Missouri Ozarks Community Action in the Manpower Programs as the Manpower Director in Richland, Missouri. He later was the Executive Director of the North East Community Action Agency over twelve counties for five years in Bowling Green, Missouri. He was then the Executive Director of the Richland Housing Authority until retiring.
Elliott had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended Wair Chapel Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, and motorcycling. He loved Hondas and Kawasaki motorcycles particularly. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elliott was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the special memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Burial will be in Dowty (Wair) Cemetery /Memorial to Dowty Cemeter.
