Elmer "Gene" Kite (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Elmer “Gene” Eugene Kite, age 82 of Buffalo, Missouri entered into rest on Friday, October 13, 2023, with his family by his side at Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility in Buffalo, Missouri.
Gene was born on February 1,1941, in Pacific Junction, Iowa to Darlene Helen Fisher and Otis Neal Kite. Gene was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hockabout and was blessed with four children: Tony, Jeff, Theresa, and Loretta.
Gene lived most of his life on his farm in Buffalo, Missouri with his late wife Shirlene Kite. He worked for Shade Tree Service Company and Asplundh Tree Service for many years trimming trees until he retired. Gene loved to go fishing, deer, and turkey hunting; he really enjoyed it when he got to take his grandchildren with him. His favorite thing to do was to go up to his river property by Bennett Springs with the whole family and go camping, fishing, and just have lots of picnics together. Gene never met a stranger; he would just sit for hours telling his stories. He had a heart of gold and always made time for his family and friends. Gene also loved music. When his grandchildren were little, he would play his harmonica while watching them just dance around and have so much fun with him, he continued to do the same thing with his great grandchildren. Gene will be missed by many and will be remembered for being such a sweet man and for that big ole smile he had on his face every time you saw him.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirlene, son Tony Kite, and three siblings. Gene is survived by his children, Jeff and Linda Kite of Halfway, Theresa and Stephen Bowers of Bolivar, Loretta and Robert Meredith of Bolivar, Neal Kite of Creighton (Gene’s favorite nephew), grandchildren: Dustin Piper, Matthew Piper, Courtney Timmerman, Jaren Kite, Bethany Kite, Clara Sikes, Emily King, Samantha Bowers, and six great grandchildren.
Online condolences can be made through Cantlon-Otterness and Viets Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri with Pastor Jerry Bone Officiating.
