Elmer Moody's Obituary
lmer Leo Moody, son of Silas and Susie (Jones) Moody, was born October 21, 1921, in Macomb, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, June 30, 2008, in his home, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, eight months, and nine days. On November 12, 1965 he was united in marriage to Juanita Exendine and together they have spent forty-two wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Moody; and a sister, Sarah Moody. Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Juanita, of the home; a son, Steve Moody, and his wife, Tammy, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; three daughters, Margie Schroeder, and her husband, Bill, of Farmington, Missouri, Deana Kelly, and her husband, Ronnie, of Norwood, Missouri, and Rhonda Coy, and her husband, Norman, of Hartville, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Sanders, of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Bill Gleason, of Macomb, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends; and his dog, Sharie. He was born and raised in Macomb, where he ran Moody Station and Grocery for forty-five years. In 1945 he entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully during World War II. Elmer made his profession of faith in Christ in 1970 and was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church, in Macomb. He was also a member of Norwood Lodge # 622, Norwood Order of the Eastern Star, York Rite, and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple. He loved visiting with people, especially on the phone and in his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors, quail and deer hunting. Elmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and dear friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, in the Corinth Baptist Church, Macomb, Missouri. Burial will be in the Macomb Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
