Elmer Tripp's Obituary
Elmer Ray Tripp, son of Claude Elmer and Rhoda Ann (Taylor) Tripp, was born January 24, 1934, in Mansfield, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, January 17, 2011, in St. John?s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, eleven months and twenty-four days. On April 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Todd and to this union a daughter and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lois Ann Tripp and Eula Walker. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-six years, Patricia; his children, David Ray Tripp and his wife, Pamela, of Macomb, Missouri, Donna Sue Tripp, of Lake Tahoe, California, and Douglas Todd Tripp and his wife, Tanya, of Seymour, Missouri; five grandchildren, Douglas Ray Tripp and his wife, Sumer, Allie Sue Tripp, Roman Shane Tripp, Taylor Rayann Tripp, and Missy Street; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Lynn Tripp, Haley Grace Tripp, Haven Ray Tripp, Mashyla Dawn Duke, and Kyanah Jo Duke; a brother-in-law, John Todd and his wife, Lula Belle, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born in Mansfield, Missouri, where he graduated from high school in the Class of 1953. Following his marriage to Patricia, they moved to Washington, then Indiana where he worked with United Steel, and in 1957 he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully in Arizona until his honorable discharge in 1959, and later moved back to Indiana. He and Patricia eventually moved to Seymour, Missouri, in 1972 to make their home, where he worked as a security guard at Hutchens Steel Processors for several years. Elmer had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended the Assembly of God Church in Mansfield, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling on long trips or just driving and being outdoors. He was an avid NASCAR and Cardinals fan. When Patricia was director at the Seymour Senior Center, he liked to help her with the different activities. Elmer loved his family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elmer was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and brother-in-law, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories he created for all who knew and loved him.
