Elva Bogart's Obituary
Elva McCrite Bogart was born June 10, 1919, in Bryant, Missouri, to Cornelia and Sidney McCrite. She departed this life Saturday, February 11, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years. Elva was united in marriage to Alvin Hale Bogart on June 20, 1946. To this union one daughter, Nondas Diana Bogart, was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; and two brothers, Elmer and Ray. Elva is survived by her daughter, Nondas Bogart, of Camdenton, Missouri; a sister, Ilenia Smith, of Mansfield, Missouri; six nephews, Norman, Richard, Donald, and Lloyd McCrite, Wright Bogart, and Alfred Aldridge; two nieces, Betty Cleland, and Kathy Diecer; several cousins; and many friends. Elva graduated from Ava High School in 1940. She continued her education at Southwest Missouri State College and Drury College with degrees in education. She began her thirty-eight year teaching career at area country schools, continued at Mansfield Schools, and retired in 1981 from Mountain Grove High School. In the fall of 1981, she began working at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Mansfield. She retired as Director of the Museum in 2002. Elva was a member of Mansfield First Baptist Church and attended Camdenton First Baptist Church when health permitted. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators, the Order of the Eastern Star, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and P.E.O. She enjoyed crafts and made dolls for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Book Store. She loved quilting, sewing, and reading. We celebrate Elva’s life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesady morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
