Emery Lee Davis (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Emery Davis, 67, of Pittsburg, MO completed his journey here on earth and was embraced into his Father's arms in heaven on Thursday, August 24th, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Emery was born October 22, 1949 to Joe and Margaret Davis in Ainsworth, Nebraska. In 1956 they moved to the Pittsburg, MO area where Emery came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. After graduating from Hermitage High School in 1967, Emery began a career as a barber in Kansas City. Emery served in active duty on the Richard B. Anderson (DD786) in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972. After his service in the navy, he worked as a journeyman painter out of Springfield and then St. Louis until 1990.
Emery married Paula Rice, from Bolivar, May 1, 1981, and in 1987 they were blessed with a baby boy, Joe Davis. In 1990 Emery and family returned to Pittsburg, MO and Emery ran many different businesses before fibromyalgia disabled him from working. Emery was a devoted husband and father who always put his family above himself. Emery loved fishing, and one of his greatest joys was taking others out on the lake to fish. He loved helping others and making his landscaping visions come to life. When one drives through Pittsburg, they will see ponds, landscaping and buildings that came to life from Emery's visions.
Emery loved the Lord and attended the "Walk to Emmaus" last October. After attending the walk, he became passionate about moving to town and finding a ministry to devote and serve for the rest of his life. It is his greatest desire that his friends and family all have the same type of experience that he had on "The Walk to Emmaus."
Emery was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph R. Davis and Margaret P. Davis; his brother, Jerry R. Davis; and sisters in-law, Nancy Payne Davis and Candy Rice. He is survived by his wife, Paula; his son, Joe, and his family, Crystal, Michael, and Alex; his brother and sister in-law, Wally and Mabel Davis, of Wheatland, and their daughter, Joanne Thompson of Springfield; his mother in-law, Marian Rice of Bolivar; sisters in-law and families, Sandy and Rick Frieze of Cape Fair, Linda Williamson of Branson, and Donna and Larry Cole of Aldrich; and brothers in-law, Bill Rice of Bolivar, and Dennis Weaver of Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Gospel of Asia, one of the ministries close to Emery's heart.
