Emma “Mickey” Thompson Henslee
Emma “Mickey” Thompson Henslee, daughter of H.E. and Fannie Wright Riley was born June 8, 1917 in Linn County, Missouri and departed this life on May 31, 2012 in Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of ninety-four years, eleven months and twenty-three days. She was united in marriage to Thomas Clinton Thompson on October 4, 1935 and to this union four children were born. After Clinton passed away in 1955 she married Virgil Moore in 1958. After Virgil’s passing she married Harry Henslee in 1983 and they spent twenty-six years together before Harry’s passing three years ago. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Velma Thompson and Viona Barber Wallace; four sisters, Kathryn Taylor, Laverne Plumber, Normagene Matney and Dolly Matney; four brothers, John Riley, Lawrence Riley, Wayne Riley and Hubert Riley. She is survived by two sons, Gordon Thompson and his wife Jaunita of Rockford, Illinois and Jesse Thompson and his wife Lavouna of Mansfield, Missouri; sister, Audrey Copeland of Mansfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Deana Borders and husband James, Andy Williams and wife Barb, Lori Jordan, Clint Thompson and wife Darlene, Clay Thompson and wife Amanda, Cindy Thompson, Eddie Barber and wife Donna, Kathy Easley and husband Charlie, Karen Weddle and husband Wayne and Patty Farris and husband Willie; a loyal step-daughter, Janet McSwain and husband Junior, who faithfully visited Emma in the nursing home; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Emma was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1935. She was a licensed nurse having worked for Dr. Neufeld for many years and at the old Mansfield Hospital, as well as being a devoted homemaker. She dedicated her life helping others. Emma had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended the Ava General Baptist Church until her health failed. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crafts and making apple head dolls. Emma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will always cherish the many wonderful memories we have of her. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2012 in Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield with burial to follow in the Nancy Newton Cemetery northwest of Mansfield. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.
