Emogene York's Obituary
Emogene York, daughter of Mose and Isabell Helton Adams, was born October 22, 1913, near Palace, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, December 26, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, two months, and four days. On January 14, 1929, she was united in marriage to Edward C. York, and to this union one daughter and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, in 1980; a son, Clyde Dale York; two infant brothers; and a sister, Anna Mae York. Emogene is survived by a daughter, Lillian Hope Welch Weeks, of Plato, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Elsie York, of Lynchburg, Missouri; four grandchildren, Sandra E. (York) Wilson, and her husband, Bob, of Springfield, Missouri, Dale E. York, and his wife, Linda, of Lebanon, Missouri, Robert D. Welch, and his wife, Brenda, of Belton, Texas, and Randy D. Welch, and his wife, Suzanna, of Waynesville, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren; a step-great-granddaughter; eight great-great-grand-children; two step-great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Palace community. After she and Edward were married, they made their home on their family farm in the Plato area and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Emogene also helped her husband in the operation of their farm and enjoyed being outdoors. Emogene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church near Plato. She liked working in her yard and keeping her grass mowed. She was a wonderful cook, loved animals, and also took special care of her children. She enjoyed staying active and kept her drivers license current until 1992. Emogene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, in the Palace Union Church, Plato, Missouri. Burial will be in the Palace Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time, in the church. Memorials to the Palace Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
