Erick Virgil Stroup (Lebanon)'s Obituary
After a battle with cancer, Erick V. Stroup was called home to spend eternity with Jesus. Erick was born April 13, 1971 in Peoria, Illinois to Virgil Stroup and Sheila LaRosh Stroup. He left this Earth Tuesday evening, May 23, 2023 at the age of fifty-two years, one month and ten days.
Erick was raised in Peoria, Illinois and moved to Lebanon almost thirty-five years ago when he began his career in plumbing. He worked contract labor for the military in Afghanistan on two different occasions from 2012-2015 during Operation Enduring Freedom. He was awarded for his work there. He established Laclede Plumbing Company seventeen years ago in Lebanon and was known for his excellent abilities in plumbing and customer service. In 2022, he was awarded the Best of the Best award for plumber in the Laclede County area. This award was voted on by the community and Erick didn’t even know he had been nominated until he was awarded.
His faith in God was central in his life and he was a born again Christian. He had gone on a mission trip to Jamaica with Cross Creek Church in Lebanon. When he started attending Cross Creek Church, it felt like home from the first time he walked through the door.
On September 1, 2005, Erick was united in marriage to Stephanie Haines. Together they have shared seventeen years of love and happiness as well as the trials of life.
Erick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his family very much. They enjoyed taking family vacations together. They liked hunting for fossils, and traveling and hiking.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Erick is survived by his wife, Stephanie, of the home; his parents, Virgil and Sheila Stroup of Lacon, Illinois; his son, Wyatt Stroup of Lebanon, Missouri; his daughter, Tori Reagan of Montgomery City, Missouri; his step-daughter, Addison Myler of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, August, William and Winston; three sisters, Hope Coventry and Kim Erikman, both of Illinois and Yvonne Frasier of Florida; and other relatives and friends.
Erick was a great guy to be around. He was fun, silly and enjoyed having a good time. His step-daughter, Addison even called him “Sil” because he was always acting silly. Erick was especially close to his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Janice Haines. Erick had a special bond with Wyatt, his miracle son.
Erick was loved by so many. He loved his family, friends and was the hardest, most dependable worker you would ever meet. He talked to strangers as if they were friends.
While those he left behind will miss him so very much, we take comfort in knowing Erick is fully healed and rejoicing with his Savior in Heaven. His love for God and compassion for others will be a legacy his family will cherish for years to come.
A memorial has been established to New Hope Cemetery and donations may be left or mailed to Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
