Erma Grace Jenson Cook (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Erma Grace (Jensen) Cook, 94 of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.
Born August 7, 1930, to Viola and Jens Jensen of Hugo, Colorado, Erma was one of 13 children. Of her 12 siblings, she is survived by four younger sisters. Erma graduated from Hugo High School in 1948. She married Keith A. Cook in December 1949 soon after he returned from the U.S. Navy. The union produced four daughters: Candace (1951), Katherine (1952), Connie (1954) and Krista (1955). Erma and Keith raised their daughters on a ranch near Elizabeth, CO from 1958 until 1965 and then on an acreage near Parker, CO. They were very proud of the fact that all four daughters earned college degrees.
In semi-retirement, Keith and Erma relocated to a wooded acreage in Humansville, MO in 1982 and then later to Bolivar. Keith passed in April of 2017. Erma is survived by all four daughters: Candace Ferranti (Florence, AL), Katherine Wacker (Coralville, IA), Connie Hauck (New Virginia, IA), and Krista Cook-Ullrich (Dillon, CO). Erma is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Erma's heritage was 100 percent Danish. Erma referred to her daughters as her "Danish Cookies." She was a caring wife for 67 years and a devoted mother. Early onset dementia resulted in nursing home care for the final decade of her nearly 95 years, but she will always be remembered for her smile and her friendly demeanor to friends and strangers alike.
As Erma and Keith requested many years ago, a small graveside service will be held in a few months to distribute their combined ashes to the prairie winds of Eastern Colorado near their headstones in Evergreen Cemetery in Hugo.
