Erma Sartin's Obituary
Erma Faye Sartin, daughter of Charles Basil and Odetta Mae (Franklin) Fox, was born March 27, 1933, in Smackout, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, August 15, 2009, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, four months, and nineteen days. On June 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Eugene Sartin and to this union a son, Danny, was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur, on February 22, 2006; a sister, Mary Fox; a brother, Charles “Buster” Fox; and a nephew, Donald Fox II. Erma is survived by her son Dan, of Key West, Florida; two sisters, Aletta Hutchins and her husband, Donald, and Susie Haynes and her husband, Horace, all of Seymour, Missouri; two brothers, Donald Fox and his wife, Pat, of Conroe, Texas, and Ronald Fox and his wife, Tina, of Seymour, Missouri; her nieces and nephews, David Lee Hennigh and his wife, Angie, Shelia Hoggatt and her husband, Tommy, Sherri Hennigh, Dawn Hutchins, Bryan Fox, Tim Fox and his wife, Crystal, Jennifer Jenkins, Dustin and Dylan Fox; great-nieces and great-nephews, Derek and Shannon Hennigh, Allison Hoggatt, Keegan Everroad, Sabrina, Chelsea, and Rianna Fox; her “Big Sister” Nellie West, of Seymour, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She graduated from the eighth grade at Skyline School and then attended and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1949. She was working at the Skyline Café in Seymour at the time of her marriage to Wilbur. Following their marriage they lived on their farm near Seymour, and in addition to being a farm wife, she also worked for ten years at Speedy’s Café in Seymour. She lived her last few years at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour. Erma had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church and was baptized in Longwith’s swimming hole. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, doing needlecrafts, listening to all kinds of music, and helping Wilbur with his woodworking projects for their booth at the Seymour Apple Festival. She and Wilbur loved square dancing and playing cards with Nellie West and friends. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday August 20, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday evening 6-7:30pm in the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
