Ernest James (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Ernest James Smith, son of the late William and Lena (Gregory) Smith, was born on August 3, 1941 in Osceola, Missouri and departed this life on April 2, 2018 in Buffalo, Missouri. At the time of his passing he was 76 years, 7 months and 30 days of age.
Ernest was born, raised and attended school in Osceola, Missouri. After the ninth grade he started work at a local auto body shop and then several other small jobs in that area. He loved to fish, go to swap meets and drink coffee with his buddies every morning. He enjoyed mushroom, quail and squirrel hunting. He was a very loveable man who loved making people laugh.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sandy Deckard; his three brothers, Robert Smith, William Smith and Leroy Smith; and one sister, Jesselee Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Smith; his daughter, Jenny Getman; his son, Jim Smith; his two step- sons, Russell Robinson and Charles Robinson; his step-daughter, Jerilynn Peters; his sister, Anna Mae Howerton; thirteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He also leaves many other friends and family who will all truly miss him.
Cremation rites were accorded by the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
