He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo in 1986 and Levern in April 1979 as well as a great nephew, Mark Allen Calhoun. Ernie is survived by two sisters, Ellen Lousie Buttram and husband Wallace of Hartville and Lucy Levern Cantrell and husband Steve of Mansfield; two nieces, Tracy Hicks and husband Gary of Mansfield and Lucy Renae Piland and husband David of Collinsville, Oklahoma; five nephews, Cleo Calhoun, Jeff Calhoun and Stephen Lee Cantrell all of Mansfield, Scott Calhoun and wife Angie of Mtn. Ernie attended school in Mansfield and held various jobs later in life. He helped milk cows and feed calves to sell while living on a dairy farm. He also worked for his cousin, Dale Cannon at a post company and worked at a sale barn. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and really just being outdoors. Ernie spent the last twenty-five years on“the old family place” near Lucy and Steve. They took care of him in the last few years of his life because he wasn’t able to drive and was dependent on others for help because of his health. Ernie was very special to us and we loved him dearly. We will miss him but his memories will live on in us forever.
