Esther Twomey's Obituary
Esther Mae Twomey, daughter of William and Jennie Smith Nicholson, was born January 26, 1919, in Atoka, Oklahoma. She departed this life Friday, December 29, 2006, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months, and three days. On April 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Joseph Edward Twomey, and to this union two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph, on June 19, 1989; a son, Thomas Twomey; three brothers; and one sister. Esther is survived by a son, David Twomey, and his wife, Doreen, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Janelle DeCells, Joseph Twomey, Hunter Twomey, Esther Ellison, and Ginger Twomey; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Atoka, Oklahoma and graduated from Atoka High School. After she and Joseph were married, they made their home in various places while he was serving in the military. These places included Philadelphia, Corpus Christi, San Diego, and Imperial Beach. During these years, Esther was a devoted and loving homemaker and mother to her family. For the last twenty-four years, she had made her home in Lebanon. Esther was an active member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. She enjoyed doing volunteer work with the Ladies Auxiliary at Breech Medical Center and also with the O.A.T.S. program. Her family was very important to her and she was especially close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Esther was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
