Esther Walters' Obituary
Esther R. Walters, daughter of Martin Thomas and Ellen (Noer) Reinholdt, was born August 14, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. She departed this life Sunday, January 22, 2006, at Lake Regional Health System, of Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, five months and eight days. Esther was united in marriage to William “Bill” McBride Walters on February 16, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. Bill preceded her in death in 2000. Her parents also preceded her in death. Esther is survived by two sons, Thomas Dale Walters, and his wife, Janice, of Camdenton, Missouri; and Paul McBride Walters, of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Ellen Gould, and her husband, Peter, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Ruth Kensinger, and her husband, Jesse, of Garland, Texas; eight grandchildren, Heidi Rice, and her husband, Matthew, Kimberly Jokhy, and her husband, Brian, William Walters, Joseph Walters, Holly Kensinger, Jennifer Lassiter, and her husband, Aaron, David Walters and Sarah Walters; two great-grandchildren; Caleb Rice and Megan Rice; four sisters, Edith Data, and her husband, Harry, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Alice Leuthold, of Tomah, Wisconsin, Sylvia Olsen, and her husband, David, of Bearfoot Bay, Florida, and Virginia Jarrett, of Mesquite, Texas; and many other relatives and friends. Esther was raised and graduated from high school in Chicago. She later went to flight school and became a Women’s Air Force Service Pilot “WASP”. She served her country proudly during World War II and was honorably discharged. After the war, she and her husband lived in Chicago. Later, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In the seventies, she and her husband moved to Dallas, Texas and together they retired to the lake area in 2000. Esther accepted Christ as her Savior and was an active member of St. George Episcopal Church in Camdenton. She was a member of the St. George Altar Guild, as well as other altar guilds throughout her life.She also belonged to the retired WASP Auxiliary. She helped her children in scouting programs, Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts, as a den mother. Esther loved to do knitting and crocheting in her spare time. Esther was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. We cherish her memory in our hearts and will dearly miss her. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, in the St. George Episcopal Church, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will be in the laughlin Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorial contributions to Windsor Estates Court Yard Fund or St. George Alter Guild may be made through the funeral home.
