Ethel Lea Dickens (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ethel Lea Dickens, daughter of William and Agnes Henderson Langston, was born May 19, 1930, near Grovespring, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, December 30, 2019, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, seven months, and eleven days.
On October 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Leonard Eugene Dickens and they shared sixty-three years before his passing on January 5, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dan and Charles Langston; three sisters, Wanda Greenwood, Beatrice Jinks, and Doris Wiseman; and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Ann Gibson, and her husband, John, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Dwight Moody, of Stoutland, Missouri, Carl Dickens, and his wife, Denise, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Wayne Dickens, and his wife, Glenda, of Conway, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Grovespring community. She began working for the Rice Stix Factory in Lebanon, which later became the H. D. Lee Company. She continued working as a seamstress for them for over forty-six years. She was also employed by the Munger Moss Restaurant and the Clover Leaf Restaurant for a time. She was later employed in the shoe department at the Wal Mart Store for ten years. Throughout the years, she was always a devoted homemaker to her husband, and family.
Ethel had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Five Church of Christ.
In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, sewing, playing Bingo and shopping. She possessed a delightful sense of humor and could be rather feisty and teasing. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
