Eugene Firestine's Obituary
Eugene Fredrick Firestine, son of Fredrick M. and Ethel M. Cusick Firestine, was born March 19, 1935, in Big Piney, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, July 24, 2006, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, four months, and five days. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, John, and Harry Firestine; and a sister, Shirley Firestine. Gene is survived by a sister, Minnie Brown, and her husband, Glenn, of Porter, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Betty Firestine, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Shirley Stratman, and her husband, Russ, of Kirkwood, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Big Piney, Missouri area. Early in his adult years, he managed a PX at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for ten years, and then made his home in California where he was a receiving clerk for the Harris Tubing Company. In 1987 ,he moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made his home. He worked for K-Mart for a few years and then in the maintenance department at Lebanon R-III Schools for a number of years. Gene had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling and looking at cars. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and liked to laugh. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his nieces and nephews. Gene will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
