Eugene Robson (Hartville)'s Obituary
Eugene Robson, son of Dennis Charles and Eliza Nevada Carder Robson, was born March 31, 1929 on the family farm near Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, February 11, 2013 in Brooke Haven Health Care, West Plains, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years, ten months, and eleven days.
On December 22, 1950, Eugene was united in marriage to Freeda J. Kelsay and to this union one son was born.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Arthur Lee Robson.
He is survived by his wife, Freeda of the home; son, Charles “Chuck” Robson and wife Marcia of West Plains, Missouri; grandchildren, Colter and Lauren Robson and Melissa Gilbreath; great-granddaughter, Bailey Gilbreath; sister, Annabelle Tinsley and husband Clyde of Mountain Grove, Missouri; nieces, Joyce, Janice, Jeannie, Judy, and Jana; sisters-in-law, Essie Robson of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Jean Zimmerman and husband Paul of Springfield, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Eugene attended Green Forest Grade School and was a graduate of Mountain Grove High School in the Class of 1946. Following his graduation, Eugene taught at Coon Creek School from 1946 until being inducted into the United States Army in 1952. He proudly served his country from 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1954. Upon his discharge, Eugene enrolled in school and was a graduate of Rolla School of Mines with a degree in Civil Engineering.
He went to work for Missouri Department of Transportation as an engineer and retired from there after nearly thirty-years of service. Eugene had farmed throughout his life, and continued to do so even after his retirement and maintained his beef cattle farm in Willow Springs until his passing.
In his spare time, Eugene enjoyed traveling. The family took many trips to the Rockies, the Appalachian, and the Smoky Mountains. He had dreamed of visiting Alaska as a young man and managed to do so twice in his lifetime.
Eugene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
